[A REVISAR] 26 April: International Noise Awareness Day

In a society where noise has become so commonplace that we forget the serious hearing problems it can cause, and where it affects our emotional state and can even impair our intellectual abilities, it is particularly important that, at least in the places where we carry out our daily activities (whether at work, at leisure or with our families), a series of measures is taken to eliminate it or, at the very least, to reduce it significantly so as to create spaces of wellbeing.

That is why, on International Noise Awareness Day, we would like to share some useful tips to avoid hearing and comfort problems.

Acoustic comfort is defined as the situation in which the noise level generated by activities is suitable for people’s rest, communication and health.

There are two techniques that, when properly combined, make it possible to create a comfortable acoustic environment inside an enclosed space:

• Acoustic treatment: the acoustic treatment of a room consists of controlling the sound energy reflected by its surfaces in order to reduce or adjust the reverberation time, improve listening conditions and, in general, lower the sound level in the room. THU metal ceilings, combined with the appropriate mineral fibres and/or wools in each case, are a good example of the tools used to help achieve the optimum environment required.
• Sound insulation: insulation is understood as the set of measures aimed at reducing or preventing the transmission of noise from inside one room to another, or from the outside into the room.
